Industrial paint sprayers
Industrial Spray Painting in Rotherham & South Yorkshire
P.J. Coatings are industrial paint sprayers based in Rotherham. We spray machinery, structural steel, cladding, marine vessels, rail vehicles and containers across Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley and the rest of South Yorkshire, and nationwide.
With over 20 years in the trade, we choose the coating system to suit the surface and the conditions it has to withstand, and finish in any RAL colour.

What We Spray
Industrial spray painting services
From a single machine to a full production building, we prepare and protect the surfaces your operation depends on.
Machinery & plant
Machine tools, plant and equipment resprayed, with controls, dials, slideways and worktables masked off first.
Structural steelwork
Protective and decorative coatings for steel frames, beams and fabrications, built to withstand demanding environments.
Industrial cladding
Faded or chalky cladding on factories, warehouses and units resprayed instead of replaced, using a single-stage, air-drying epoxy on large areas.
Marine
Steel vessels coated to a marine standard: epoxy primer, polyurethane topcoat and a silicone antifoul below the waterline.
Rail
Rail vehicles finished in Axalta hydro topcoat, which stands up to life in service and has anti-graffiti properties.
Containers & enclosures
Steel shipping containers and enclosures resprayed on site in any RAL colour.
Coatings
The right coating system for the job
The system matters as much as the colour. These are the systems we use on some of our most common industrial work.
| Used on | Coating system | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Bare steel and marine | Epoxy primer and polyurethane topcoat, with a silicone antifoul below the waterline | Good adhesion, corrosion protection, UV resistance and a long service life |
| Large cladding areas | Single-stage, air-drying epoxy | Longevity and durability across big areas |
| Rail vehicles | Axalta hydro topcoat | Durable in service, with anti-graffiti properties |

Equipment
Four ways to spray
We match the spraying method to the coating, the surface and the size of the job.
Gravity-fed spray guns
Paint feeds from a cup on top of the gun. Suited to fine finishes, detail work and smaller items.
Pressure pots
A pressurised tank feeds the gun at a steady rate, for larger areas and heavier coatings without stopping to refill.
Airless
High pressure atomises the paint without compressed air, laying thick, even coats quickly on large areas such as cladding and steelwork.
Air-assisted airless
Airless speed with a little air added at the tip, for a finer finish and less overspray.

FAQs
Industrial spray painting questions
Ask us about your machinery, steelwork or building. We're happy to talk through the coating system and how we'd plan the job.
What coating system do you use on steel?
On bare steel, such as a steel vessel, our marine-standard system is an epoxy primer for adhesion and corrosion protection, then a polyurethane topcoat, which is UV resistant and gives a long service life. Below the waterline we add a silicone antifoul.
Which spraying methods do you use?
Gravity-fed spray guns, pressure pots, airless and air-assisted airless. We choose the method to suit the job, from fine finishes on small items to fast, heavy coats on large areas.
What types of coating can you apply?
Epoxy, polyurethane, acrylic, cellulose, metallic, clearcoat, oil-based and waterborne coatings, including Axalta hydro topcoat for rail vehicles. We pick the system to suit the surface and the conditions it has to withstand.
Can you match our machinery or brand colours?
Yes. Anything from the RAL colour range, and we can match any colour sample you provide.
Will the work disrupt production?
We plan every job to keep disruption to a minimum, with flexible scheduling and careful masking and sheeting, so you can keep working while we do.
Do you work outside Rotherham?
Yes. We're based at Hillside Court in Rotherham and work across Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley and the rest of South Yorkshire, and nationwide.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. All of our work comes with a guarantee.
